What is Band?
Band is an elective class, not an after-school activity, in which you learn how to read music and how to play an instrument of your choice.
Purpose
The purpose of the DuBois Integrity Academy Band program is to enrich the lives of our DIA scholars through musical growth and performance opportunities.
Vision
Through music education, The DIA Band Program will empower and assist students in developing confidence, creativity, discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills.
About Our Band Director
Greeting Dubois Integrity Academy band parents! Meet Mr. Ryan Childress. Born and raised in the heart of Atlanta's vibrant music scene. Mr. Childress attended college at Clark Atlanta University where his drive for musical excellence was shaped. While at CAU, he was chosen perform in the movie 20th Century Fox movie Drumline and a host of other performances. He went on to graduate from Livingstone College where he led the band as a section leader and Drum Major. As an educator, Mr. Childress has served as an Orchestra and Band Director. These ensembles have performed for football /basketball games, parades, theme parks, open houses and even school Superintendents.
He is a master in developing students at all levels and creating a fun environment in which students thrive. With accolades like guiding students to All County and All State Bands, and earning top ratings at Large Group Performance Evaluations, Mr. Childress is not just about teaching music but nurturing the passion that makes our students shine.
Beyond the podium, Mr. Childress has been married 7 years to his amazing wife and has 3 beautiful children. In his spare time, Mr. Childress enjoys traveling, spending time with his family, and fishing.
Mr. Childress looks forward to creating lasting musical experiences that will resonate with students throughout their life.
